Most of these sites focus on readers'
choice awards. These are awards in which the readers - children or
young adults have a vote on the book chosen as the winner. In many
cases the children recommend the books, an adult committee from the
sponsoring organization reads and makes the final determination as to
the final list of books to be considered. Readers read those books and
vote for their favorite title. That title/author is declared the winner
of that particular year's award. Often the book has been published two
or three years previous. Sometimes the committee mandates that the book
must be available in paperback or that the author is living. Each award
has it's own criteria.
I have tried to include the "official site" where one could be located
but when not we have included a site, if available, with important
information. |
