Colin Bootman

Colin Bootman earned a Coretta Scott Honor Award for Almost to Freedom (2003), and the Schneider Family Book Award in 2006 for Dad, Jackie and Me.  Bootman uses evocative watercolors rich in soft browns and lush greens and other colors to create his illustrations.
His illustrations have appeared in dozens of children's books and his fine art illustrations have been exhibited in art shows and are part of many private collections. He divides his time between New York City and Trinidad..

Colin speaks frequently in schools in his home state (New York) and across the United States. He has spoken successfully to all age levels -- in schools, libraries, and at a variety of conferences.  His emphasis includes his art process and the influence of his life on writing and illustrations.

Bootman's many illustrated books include: Follow the Leader, In My Momma’s Kitchen, Oh, No, Toto!,  and Papa’s Mark.  His first written and illustrated book (Fish for The Grand Lady), debuted in the fall of 2006.
