Speaking to Readers

Skype

Large group presentations by the author are often combined with writing or reading workshop sessions during a day's visit to a school. At times a partial day at a school is combined with an evening presentation for the community at the school or at a public library. Carol's presentations are also well suited for writers and readers conferences.
Michelle Edwards speaks to all age levels about books, writing, illustrating, and knitting.

Primary Aged Readers -- Picture + Story = Book
In Picture + Story = Book, a Power Point presentation, Michelle provides an enhanced reading experience that accentuates the way text and pictures can work together to create a story. A short introduction explains the writing and illustrating process.
Choice of author’s awarding books: Chicken Man (picture book), or Pa Lia’s First Day (early chapter books). (K-2, and Parent’s Groups)
Intermediate Readers and secondary --Everything but the Kitchen Sink
Michelle draws upon her extensive experience as an author/illustrator to explain the creative and technical process of creating a book. In this Power Point presentation, using selected images, she covers key points of story writing and illustration.  Included are explanations of art techniques and  computer illustration.
Everything but the Kitchen Sink is followed by a Question and Answer session.
By adjusting language and depth, this presentation can be geared to a wide range of groups: from second grade to high school.
