Colin Bootman earned a Coretta Scott Honor Award for Almost to Freedom (2003), His illustrations have appeared in
dozens of children's books and his fine art illustrations have been
exhibited in art shows and are part of many private collections. List of books illustrated by Colin Bootman (a PDF file) If you are hosting Colin Bootman in your schools you may wish
to put up a bulletin board featuring Colin and his books. Here is
a large photograph that you may download and use on your bulletin
board. Printing on photo paper -- or brochure paper (cost
effective) will provide a good result. A Note from Colin: In the past, some schools have
prepared projects centered around the themes of my titles. For example
in conjunction with In Momma’s Kitchen, students
constructed a model kitchen complete with sink, stove, refrigerator,
and utensils. There are many other creative ways, however, to involve
and familiarize students with my books. It is much easier for me to
engage the students once connections to my work have been established.
